LANSING (AP) -- A divided Michigan Supreme Court has decided to keep its justices working in Detroit and Traverse City.
The change was made Thursday during the court's administrative conference.
The 4-3 decision to close the offices used then by four of the seven justices was made last November after Republican Justice Clifford Taylor was defeated by Democrat Diane Marie Hathaway.
Once Hathaway took office, the court's new majority voted 4-3 that the state wouldn't save much money from the closures and said it was beneficial for the court to have a presence outside Lansing.
All seven justices also have offices in the Hall of Justice in Lansing.
The court also voted 4-3 Thursday to propose rules governing when justices should be disqualified from hearing cases.
