Many of us are travelling for Thanksgiving, but there are some in our community who don't know where their holiday meal is coming from. More people are turning to food pantries to help fill their fridge. In fact one area pantry is seeing double the amount of people who need help this year.

Just as fast as the volunteers are stocking the shelves the food is flying off of them and out the door to families in need. "It's been very busy lately extremely," said Father Fred volunteer Lois Macgregor, "It's a lot of running back and fourth filling grocery bags."

In fact at the Father Fred Food Pantry the executive director says all year they've been seeing increasing numbers of people in need, but this time the amount of food they've given to hungry residents has reached a new high in the last week alone.

"We would see two thousand dollars and we're seeing an average of four thousand dollars a day that we're giving out that's a one hundred percent increase," said Father Fred Executive Director Martie Manty.

So far she says they've been able to balance the need with the donations. Marty says the donations are coming in steadily keeping the shelves full, but they're concerned whether they can keep up with the increased need after the holiday food drives are over.

"We're all worried about keeping pace with the need and there are no indicators it's going to drop off," said Manty,

And she says they're not expecting the pantry to stay full for long and with the economy suffering the director says so will their shelves. "We're just draining our supplies our inventory because of the additional folks coming in," said Manty.
