In Poland, the financial freeze has hit ornament makers especially hard since they export their products to other countries, including the United States. One company president says his firm saw its profits disappear and could mean cutting workers at the factory. Polish officials have stated repeatedly that the economy of the country is in good shape despite the global financial crisis, and have offered guarantees to Polish banks. But that has done little to reassure ornament workers who export 90 percent of their products overseas.
