An air carrier in Traverse City is showcasing a new Learjet hoping someone will want to buy it.
TRAVERSE CITY -- The Bombardier 40XR can carry 6 to 7 people and is hailed for having the widest and most spacious cabin area of it's kind. Air Services, a small plane operator at Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City, saw the jet at a show and asked Bombardier to bring it to Northern Michigan. Monday night, potential buyers from the public will get to tour the inside, and maybe make an offer to buy it. A representative with Bombardier Learjet, Judd Easterling says, "we see the Bombardier 40XR being a major factor, it's already a very important aircraft in Michigan. There are several Learjets based here in Michigan. It's got low operating costs, great cabin and for the money, it's the best airplane in its class." He also says if someone were to purchase the plane, Air Services would provide a crew to fly it, creating 3 new jobs at the company. If the owner wanted the plane could be chartered out providing another way for Northern Michigan residents to get from a to b. The Bombardier 40XR costs around $9 million.
