TRAVERSE CITY -- An 18-year-old homeless Traverse City man was arrested this weekend for possession of marijuana and receiving/concealing stolen property.

The incident happened when Traverse City Police stopped a car that ran a red light at the intersection of Front and Division Streets. As officers approached the car, they smelled a "very strong" odor of burning marijuana.

An investigation led to the recovery of 23 grams of marijuana as well as several items believed to be stolen from cars within the City of Traverse City as well as Grand Traverse County.

Items recovered include a laptop, two paint ball guns, five Garmin GPS, two Tom-Tom GPS, several CD's, binoculars and a digital camera.

The Traverse City Police Department is currently working with the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office to review incidents where police reports have been fired with items being stolen from vehicles.
