LANSING (AP) -- The Michigan Lottery is getting ready to go online.

MLive.com reports Michigan Lottery Commissioner M. Scott Bowen this week announced that the lottery will add the online sale of popular games.

In April, Michigan Lottery players - through subscription sales - will be able to purchase Classic Lotto 47, Fantasy 5, Powerball and Mega Millions.

The news comes as lottery officials celebrated its 40th anniversary. The lottery says it sold its first ticket on Nov. 13, 1972, and has contributed more than $17 billion to state education since then.
