TRAVERSE CITY -- A woman is behind bars after police say she tried to "head butt" officers during an investigation outside a Traverse City bar.

Police were called to the Sidetrax bar on Franklin Street early Thursday morning for an assault in progress between a husband and wife.

According to police, when the officers arrived they saw the 30-year-old woman hitting a man outside the front doors of the bar.  When police approached the couple the woman started swearing at officers and refused to comply with their requests.  The man told police his wife was upset with him and punched him several times in the face.

The woman was placed under arrest for Domestic Assault. She resisted and attempted to "head butt" officers restraining her. Once the officers placed her into the patrol car she proceeded to kick out the rear passenger window.
