It costs a lot of money to have lawmakers represent us in Lansing. In previous Fact Finders we showed you how Michigan's lawmaker salaries compare to other states. Our lawmakers are some of the best paid in the country. In recent years, their pay and benefits have both been cut.
But some of our viewers wanted us to dig a little deeper. They were curious what other expenses do the taxpayers cover in terms of lawmakers running an office in Lansing. As it turns out it's a multi million dollar per year expense to keep our lawmakers working.
