ELK RAPIDS -- Schools across the area are counting on new fundraiser efforts to meet the needs of the district and make up for cuts in state funding.
A popular event for Elk Rapids Public Schools brought in $89,000. More than 300 people took part in the "We Are E.R. Dinner and Auction" in May. Now the district is hosting an online auction. It's open to the public until August 8.
All the money raised will fund foreign language programs in the elementary schools, the International Baccalaureate Program in the middle school as well as athletics and the arts.

Bids will be accepted until Monday, August 8 at noon. However, bids for the #2 Harbor Days VIP Package will be accepted only until 9pm on Wednesday, August 3.
