HARBOR SPRINGS, MI -- We might have found some of the heaviest dogs on the planet, but the thing about these eight-feet tall pooches -- they won't bark or run away anytime soon.

Dale Rogers, an award-winning metal sculptor from Massachusetts, brought 20 of his metal dogs to Zorn Park in Harbor Springs to be on display until August 8th.

The dogs are right downtown and the main reason of this display is to raise money for the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society.

"I wanted to do an exhibition that was easily recognizable and fun for the communities and the dogs and the Humane Society seemed to be a natural fit," said Rogers.

"It's such a great opportunity to have, I don't think anything like this has happened in Northern Michigan, at least in Harbor Springs before," said Little Traverse Bay Humane Society events coordinator Teresa Chaney.

The first Humane Society fundraiser will be a cocktail meet and greet party with Dale Rogers Thursday evening.

On August 3rd, come to the dogs for a family fun night.  There will be kids games, popcorn, and snowcones.

And finally on August 6th, big dogs from the shelter will be next to the 800-pound sculptures.  The real dogs will be up for adoption.

And of course you can head to Zorn Park at any time to look at the metal dogs.
