TRAVERSE CITY -- On Friday, January 7, the Traverse City Film Festival and the State Theatre are launching a new Music Before Film series featuring TCFF volunteer musicians playing before the State Theatre's evening shows every Friday until summer arrives.

The inaugural event will feature Windy Ridge Trio playing before the 6 pm and 8:30 pm screenings of "The King's Speech," and Emma Cook playing before the 10:50 pm Friday Night Flick, "Dark Side of the Rainbow."

In a fashion that will be familiar to people who have attended the Traverse City Film Festival, musical acts will perform approximately 20 minutes before the film, so that moviegoers can show up early and catch great, local music.

To kick off the series, the 6 pm show on Friday, January 7 will also be TCFF Musician Appreciation Night. TCFF performers from past festivals are cordially invited to attend the "The King's Speech" with a guest. The popcorn's on us, too.

For more information, please contact music@traversecityfilmfest.org or call 231-392-1134.
