Scouts camp out in the "frozen tundra"

Some area boy scouts spent a night out in the cold, but they did it on purpose.

It's a winter camp out in East Jordan. The Boy Scout group from Charlevoix County stayed out all Saturday to raise money and collect food for the local Care and Share Food Pantry. While this is the first year for the donation effort, the scouts say they hope to make it an annual tradition.

The scouts weren't all on their own. They camped with a scout leader who has done the winter campout several times before. And many of the scouts have toughed it out in the cold in past years, as well.
