General Motors says it will shut down the Saturn brand after an agreement to sell it to Penske Automotive group fell apart.
The dealership headed by Roger Penske walked away after it was unable to find a manufacturer to build the vehicles after a contract with GM runs out in 2011. A tentative deal for Saturn was announced in June.
GM CEO Fritz Henderson issued a statement that Saturn and its dealership network will be phased out.
The Saturn dealership owned by the Bill Marsh Automotive Group will be closed by the end of the year, but the dealership says they will make sure to contact Saturn owners and continue to service the vehicles.
"In terms of Saturn vehicles, we'll be servicing Saturns for years to come that hasn't changed. Saturn's commitment to the owner base. In terms of warrant repairs and all those things are not going to change at all." Said Bill Marsh Jr.
Marsh also said when Saturn closes, the building will be used in other ways by the automotive group.
