GRAND TRAVERSE -- A downtown Traverse City business did it's part to help out a local organization that offer free crisis services to the community.

Saturday marked the last day of The Week of Giving for the Third Level Crisis Center in Traverse City. All week long businesses and community members were encouraged to donate money to the center that offers free and confidential services.

Cherry Republic showed it's support for the center by donating 5% of all sales to the center.  They also set up a telethon and called supporters from their Facebook page to request donations for the organization.

"There's a lot of new people that have moved into town over the last few years and we're just trying to get more public awareness about Third Level and the activities that we do," said Executive Director, Ken Homa.  "Second point, that we're trying to do it that we've lost some government funding for some of our programs due to the tightness of the budgets and we are trying to make up that short fall so that we can continue to provide the services that we've been providing."

Things like substance abuse prevention, shelter for runaway or homeless children, outreach services to local school and health centers and free local clinics.
