SAULT SAINTE MARIE -- Some of the nation's best snowmobile riders hit the track Saturday for the final day of racing for the International I-500.

The 45th annual I-500 officially kicked off on Monday drawing in thousands of spectators who showed up to watched the sleds speed around the course in Sault Sainte Marie drivers reach speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour as they race around the only one-mile oval snowmobile track in North America.

At 10:00 am Saturday morning the green flag dropped and teams from all over the United States and Canada took-off on the 500 mile long course.

Because of safety concerns from the snow dust Saturday night, the race ended 50 laps early. This year's winner was the Bunke Racing Team from Minnesota. The winning sled of Bunke Racing is driven by Gabe Bunke of Moorhead, Minnesota, Aaron Christensen of Alberta, Canada and Spencer Kadlec of Cloquet, Minnesota.
