COLFAX TOWNSHIP -- Fire crews were on the scene of a house fire in Mecosta County's Colfax Township early Thursday morning.  The home was on 150th Road and 14 Mile Road and started about 6:30 a.m.

The Big Rapids Fire Department tells 7&4 News that the fire started in the living room of the house and was contained to that area.  One person lived in the home and did make it out safely.

The Colfax Township Fire Department and the Big Rapids Fire Department were both on scene.  Fire crews are still investigating the exact cause of the fire, but they say it may have started because of a heating unit on the main floor.
