LANSING -- Gov. Rick Snyder issued an Executive Order yesterday that will ensure the safe return of both runaway children and juveniles on probation and parole who had fled the state.

The five-member council, known as the Michigan State Council for Interstate Juvenile Supervision, will be housed in the Department of Human Services.

"This council will play an important role in protecting our youth and our communities," Snyder said.

Snyder says the council brings Michigan into compliance with the Interstate Compact for Juveniles, which has been adopted by every state except Georgia.

Four people have already been appointed to the council, but a fifth will be appointed by the Legislature.
