A snowmobiler, 63-year-old Patrick Ross of Waterford, Michigan, fell through the ice on Mullett Lake, just off of Beebe Road in Cheboygan County Friday evening.

A neighbor who called 911 told 7&4 News that they saw Ross riding his snowmobile when he suddenly slowed down.  The ice broke and Ross fell through.

Ross was in the water for about 30 minutes before the Cheboygan County Sheriff's department, Search & Rescue, Inverness Fire Department, Alverno Fire Department, Tuscarora Fire Department and Cheboygan Life Support could get to him.

The search & rescue team used a hover craft to get to Ross and bring him to shore.  He was transported to McLaren Cheboygan Campus and later to McLaren Petoskey.  He is expected to make a full recovery.

State police say alcohol was a factor in the crash.
