TRAVERSE CITY -- Volunteers are busy today prepping for community holiday meals.

Phil's on Front will be in the kitchen preparing meals for their community dinner.

It's the 4th annual Christmas dinner at the restaurant. Chef Phil Murray is serving up a holiday meal with all of the traditional favorites on Tuesday, December 25th, from 12-6pm.

There will also be a community dinner held at Trinity Lutheran.

Sandra Svec and her team of nearly 300 volunteers were busy preparing meals all day.

This will be the 23rd year that Svec has put on a Christmas dinner and they are prepared for nearly 1,000 meals.

"We're just excited there's no snowstorm, at the moment which is good," said Svec. "And just hoping that people will come down to the dinner and be here and be with us and to be with people on the holiday. That's the most omportant part."

Ham and swiss steak are on the menu, along with peas, mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, and desserts donated by Grand Traverse bakers.

Volunteers are also in need of "survivor bag" donations.  They're asking for things like toothpaste, toothbrushes, soaps, and other bathroom essentials. You can make donations tomorrow morning at the church.

The meal will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church at 1300 South Maple Street from 12-3pm.

7&4's Meghan Morelli will be at the meals to bring you a taste of the celebrations.
