GAYLORD -- The Gaylord Secretary of State has a new, temporary home after a nearby fire resulted in severe smoke damage at the previous office.

The temporary location opens today at 9 am in the Department of Natural Resources office at 1732 M-32 in Gaylord.

The Secretary of State's full-service mobile office has set up shop there to serve customers while the nearby branch location is cleaned and restored.

"I can't thank the Department of Natural Resources enough for allowing us space so we can continue to serve area residents," Secretary of State Ruth Johnson said. "This is what government is supposed to do - work together to provide the best possible services to the people."

Customers can also visit branches in Grayling and Kalkaska.

The Gaylord branch office is not expected to reopen until early December as some equipment will need to be cleaned or replaced.

Residents needing services are encouraged to visit www.ExpressSOS.com to conduct business online. Customer Service representatives are also available by calling 888-767-6424.
