TRAVERSE CITY -- The miniature community train at the center of a heated bayfront plan debate in Traverse City, will likely soon have a new place to lay down tracks.

Leaders announced in July, the Spirit of Traverse City, which ran along West Grand Traverse Bay for decades, was not a part of the new water front plan.

In January, the Traverse City Parks and Recreation Department announced the Spirit of Traverse City was up for sale.  The department has since been accepting proposals for the train, with no set asking price.

The director tells 7&4 News three proposals were received so far, with a deadline of April 5.    Officials will unveil the proposals Thursday at 2pm at the Governmental Center.

A group calling itself the Spirit of Traverse City, is trying to save the train by keeping it public and local.  The group will present its plan for the train Tuesday at 10am at the History Center in Traverse City.
