CHEBOYGAN -- Jennifer Lee Specht of Cheboygan was arrested Wednesday on truancy charges involving her elementary age child.

This is the second time Specht has been charged with truancy in the past year

The Sheriff's department says the child missed 20 days of school for the 2011-2012 school years.

Specht was just in court last week for violation of probation on an original 2011 charge of truancy and sentenced to 90 days in the Cheboygan County jail.

In January of 2011, Specht was charged with one count of truancy after a lengthy investigation revealed that her child had missed 25 days during the 2010-2011 school years.

Sheriff Dale Clarmont stated, "Deputy Fenlon has afforded Mrs. Specht every opportunity to work with him and the schools and offered to assist her in any way possible to ensure her child attended school. But for whatever reason she has declined to comply with the court order."

The child's father, John Robert Cook was also arrested on a truancy charge and pled guilty on January 30, 2012.

Cook was placed on a delayed sentence with the condition the child attends school.
