GRAND TRAVERSE CO. -- Sheriff's officials from both Leelanau and Grand Traverse County are searching for a man who they say has targeted more than a dozen prescription drug shops in the last 6 years.

Officials from Leelanau County say this man has robbed a dozen stores since late 2007 when he first took over $11,000 worth of prescriptions from the Prescription Shop in Glen Arbor.

Officials believe this man went on to a commit a slew of break-ins at places like the Copper Ridge prescription shop in Grand Traverse County, the Medicap in Grawn, and the Medicap in Petoskey where they believe he got away with more than $100,000 worth of pills.

They say he most recently targeted the Prescription Shop in Glen Arbor again in late September this past year.

Deputies estimate he stole nearly $140,000 worth of prescription drugs in the last six years.

Officials say the biggest concern with someone who is stealing large quantities of pills is that he may be selling them and endangering others.

Sheriff's officials were able to piece together this investigation through surveillance video.

7&4 News has obtained a copy of the surveillance video and will attach it to this story as soon as possible.

If you have any information about this man or these break-ins, you are asked to contact the Leelanau County Sheriff's Department at 231-256-8800 or the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Department at 231-995-5000.  You can also call the Silent Observer tip line at 231-256-8696.
