TRAVERSE CITY -- In this week's Upnorthlive ReVibe, we're turning a cast-off sofa into a ReVibed leather, "steampunk" sofa, and revealing the entire room.
Denine Dingeman, designer at Chairitable Resale, and Dan Brady, "tricks-of-the-trade" painter at Dan Brady Painting and Wood Restoration are revealing their Steampunk room!
Steps to ReVibe an old chair for trendy, Steampunk style:
Prep: Hammered Spray paint, liquid deglosser, old chair, Frogtape
Wipe down old chair with liquid deglosser and mask off edges with Frogtape. Spray with hammered spray paint.
Steps to ReVibe an old couch:
Prep: Leather cleaner, rubbing alcohol, spray paint
"It speaks for itself," said Dan. "It's awesome... It's super durable and doesn't crack."
Denine said you can work Steampunk trends into your home very easily because Steampunk has a lot of Earth tones.
"It's a little different than the Earth tones we had in the 70's," said Denine. "The natural woods, the metals: copper, brass, bronze -- those are all really popular in Steampunk."
But most of all Denine said to just have fun with it!
