IONIA, MICH. (AP) -- The mother of missing baby Kate Phillips has filed the paperwork to marry the man who has been convicted of the Unlawful imprisonment of her 4 month old daughter.

Ariel Courtland applied for the marriage in Ionia County yesterday, according to the Ionia County Clerk's Office. She has 30 days to marry Sean Phillips before the application is null.

Baby Kate, as she became affectionately known, went missing on June 29th of last year. Her father, Sean Phillips was the last person with her.

Phillips is now serving a 10 to 15 year prison sentence for Unlawful Imprisonment in Ionia's Correctional Facility.

The search for Baby Kate has continued on and off, but so far, nothing has turned up. Phillips remains tight lipped about what happened. Courtland testified against Phillips in the trial earlier this year.

Courtland tells WOOD-TV she wants to marry Phillips to visit him in prison in Ionia in her effort to learn what happened to their baby, not because she loves him.
