OAK PARK (AP) -- After 68 years as a dry city, Oak Park is considering letting restaurants in the Detroit suburb sell beer and wine.

Residents voted to make Oak Park dry in 1945 and affirmed the stand in 1954, 1966 and 2005.

The City Council is revisiting the issue March 4.

Residents of the city of 29,000 now can buy alcohol in stores but have to go to neighboring Berkley, Ferndale, Pleasant Ridge or Southfield to sit down for a drink with a meal out.

Any change would require voter approval as well.
