FRANKFORT -- This afternoon Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital celebrated sixty years of service to the community after opening it's doors in 1952.

The hospital invited the public to enjoy some specialized flavors of ice cream and see some newly built areas of the hospital.

Today included a fly over by the Coast Guard, a tribute from State Representative Ray Franz, and a presentation of the hospital's new flag - raised by two of Paul Oliver's grandchildren.

Although it has hit a couple of rough times in the past, the hospital is now in a good financial place.

Jim Austin, the president and CEO, stated "This hospital, frankly, has been a leader in the state in small hospitals on how to re-organize and re-direct how it delivers services in a meaningful way. And we're going to have to change again in the future as health care changes and technology changes."

The hospital staff is very thankful for the community's support, and looks forward to providing care for at least another sixty years.
