Two people were hurt when a school bus and car collided Friday morning on an icy road in Tawas Township.

Michigan State Police say the accident happened around 6:30am on Plank Road north of Essex Road.  There were no children on the school bus at the time of the accident.

State police say the 31-year-old bus driver lost control of the bus on the icy road.  She crossed the center line of the road and struck the other vehicle head-on.  The bus then left the road and partially overturned.  The bus driver wasn't hurt.

The car involved in the crash was being drive by a 47-year-old man from East Tawas.  He and his 55-year-old passenger were both transported to Tawas St. Joseph Hospital.  The passenger was then taken to a hospital in Saginaw for additional treatment.

Plank Road was closed for approximately three hours this morning.  Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
