CHARLEVOIX CO. -- Boyne City's historic downtown district has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Boyne City's downtown is now one of 250 districts around the state with this designation.  That means the city can apply for special grants and federal dollars to help restore buildings and maintain them.

City leaders hope this new designation will ensure that downtown history is preserved for years to come.
