NORTHERN MICHIGAN -- It was a very windy start to our Friday with gusts exceeding 50 mph in spots. Northern Michigan was sandwiched between low pressure over Southern Hudson Bay and high pressure over the Central Plains leading to a tight pressure gradient across our area. The highest wind gust was recorded at Grand Traverse Light in Lake Michigan offshore of Leelanau County at 4:40 a.m.  when the wind was clocked at 53 mph. Mackinac Island hit 47 mph with Ironton in Charlevoix County hitting 39 mph. For a period of time Friday morning, high profile vehicles were being held up and not allowed to cross the Mackinac Bridge.

Heading into the weekend, a weak area of low pressure will cross the region leading to increasing clouds Saturday along with a few snow showers Sunday. It appears less than an inch of snow for any one spot through the entire duration of our weekend. Highs over the weekend from 25-30F for most of us.
