MARQUETTE -- A Naubinway man was sentenced to 18-months in federal prison for his role in a marijuana grow.

Daryl Houghton was indicted on charges of conspiracy to manufacture marijuana, according to U.S. Attorney Patrick Miles Jr.

In addition to the prison term, Houghton is order to serve four years of court supervision following his release from prison and to pay a $100 special assessment, Miles says.

Houghton pleaded guilty to a federal indictment charging him with conspiracy to manufacture 100 or more marijuana plants. The charge stemmed from an investigation in 2007 surrounding the growing of marijuana in various parts of Mackinac County.

The investigation revealed an ongoing conspiracy to grow marijuana spanned from 2004 to 2007 involving over 400 plants.
