TRAVERSE CITY -- During the holidays we can't forget about families and pets in need, especially when it comes to pet food and supplies.  That's why an organization is working to collect donations and raise money for families in financial need when it comes to their four legged friends.

The Holiday Hound Project is an annual program that helps provide pet food and supplies to pets in need around the Christmas season. They're collecting pet food and supplies to distribute to the pets and their families in need. There are local businesses set up to collect in and around northern Michigan that are either accepting donations of items or donations of money, or even both!

Here are a list of businesses that are collecting donations:

Also, for anyone who has PayPal accounts, the address that works would be: fandjmission@gmail.com

Both Lucy and Buddy featured during the 7&4 News Today interview are both available for adoption.  Lucy is around eight years of age. She gets along with both dogs and cats and loves to snuggle up with you. She is your typical Beagle and will follow her nose if let off leash, so she must go to a home with a fenced in yard. She is not fostered with kids currently but has been around them and would do just fine with them. She is spayed and up to date on all of her vaccines and tested negative for heartworm. Don't let her age fool you, she still has a lot of spunk and would love an active family! Anyone interested in adopting can call Jessica Hoedemann at 231-645-0394.
