WEST BRANCH -- A Detroit area man has been charged with attempted murder for shooting at a home in Ogemaw County and injuring a person.

The prosecutor says the shooting happened early Tuesday morning at a home on South Chippewa Drive in Mills Township. The prosecutor says Derek Allen shot at the home and a man inside was hit in the shoulder. The victim was hospitalized, but is expected to recover.

Allen was quickly arrested, but his gun was not immediately found. Investigators recovered the weapon, a .22-caliber rifle, during a search on Wednesday. Allen faces up to life in prison if convicted.
