An affair with biographer Paula Broadwell ended the long career of retired General David Petraeus, but now a Michigan man may be taking the reins.
Michigan Congressman Mike Rogers, R-Brighton, is on the short list of possible candidates for the CIA Director position, according to a report in the New York Times.
As said in the Times report:
"Representative Mike Rogers, Republican of Michigan, is chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and a former [Federal Bureau of Investigation] official and could sail through confirmation hearings and give bipartisan air to the administration's efforts, as Mr. Petraeus did."
Petreaus resigned Friday after his affair with Broadwell, his biographer, was made public.
The New York Times lists several likely candidates to replace Petraeus, including the interim CIA director, Michael J. Morell and White House national security advisor, John O. Brennan.
The Times report cites Morell and Brennan as the most likely options for replacement. Rogers appears at the bottom of the list along side Michael E. Leiter, the retired director of the National Counterterrorism Center.
