Brings in $780,000 from top bidder
In the days of Ebay and online auctions, it seems you can sell anything.
But what about those things that have previously been considered priceless?
20-year-old Catarina Migliorini has been auctioning off her virginity online for the past few weeks. A man from Japan known as Natsu came out on top with the winning bid.
Natsu beat out five other bidders on the final day where the price jumped for $190,000 to $780,000.
The site also auctions off men's virginities, though they don't bring in the same cash as their female counterparts. Alex Stepanov only received a bid of $3,000 from a Brazilian woman named "Nene B."
Migliorini told the media that she plans to donate up to 90 percent of what she makes to charities that will build homes in Santa Catarina, Brazil.
"I was surprised she said that because in all my dealings with her, she made it clear that it was a business decision for her," Australian filmmaker Justin Sisely told The Huffington Post. "Now given how big this story is in Brazil, she's trapped. If she doesn't give any money to charity, she's going to look bad."
Sisely plans on making a documentary about Migliorini and her auction.
