ROYAL OAK, MICH. (AP) -- Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to attend a Democratic fundraiser in southeast Michigan this week.

According to U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow campaign spokesman Cullen Schwarz,  Clinton is to be in Royal Oak on Friday afternoon.

Schwarz says the private fundraiser is designed to "support get-out-the-vote and voter protection efforts across the state."

Stabenow is running for a third Senate term. The Lansing Democrat faces Republican Pete Hoekstra of Holland in next month's general election.
