KINGSLEY, MICH. (AP) -- Pink slips went out today for 11 employees of Kingsley Area Schools.
The schools will be privatizing its food services, causing lay offs.
Earlier in the year, the district out-sourced custodial services and bus drivers as it looked to off-set a huge deficit due to a decrease in state funding and a drop in student enrollment.
Superintendent Keith Smith says Chartwells will take over food services, a move that will save the district $70,000.
