TRAVERSE CITY, MICH. -- Filmmaker Michael Moore and the Consumers Energy Foundation are giving an update Wednesday on efforts to upgrade the historic State Theatre in Traverse City.

Consumers' philanthropic arm has pledged $125,000 toward restoration of the exterior of the downtown movie house. Work on the facade has been completed. A community celebration is scheduled for Oct. 24.

A ceremonial check presentation will take place Wednesday shortly after 6 p.m., followed by a showing of the film "Up".

Consumers Energy Foundation President David Mengebier will present the check. Moore will join from a distance through Skype. He is a founder of the Traverse City Film Festival helped spearhead the State Theatre restoration project.
