Traverse City Police say a city couple woke up to the sound of breaking glass and discovered an unknown man standing inside their front door early Saturday morning.
The couple called 911 and when police arrived at the house in the 300 block of West 12th street the suspect was gone.
An officer checking the area found the suspect nearby and took him into custody.
Police say suspect was intoxicated and told them he had made a "huge mistake".
The man is in the Grand Traverse County Jail.
