State health officials say hundreds of steroid vials linked to a deadly meningitis outbreak were sent to a facility in Traverse City.

Neuromuscular & Rehabilitation in Traverse City is one of four facilities in the state to have received a shipment of the medication made by a specialty pharmacy in Massachusetts to treat back pain.  The office was sent 2,500 vials of the tainted steroid and about 800 were administered.

Across the country, five people have died and about 50 more have been sickened by the disease.  Six of those sickened live in Michigan, but none are from Grand Traverse County.
