OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma City Public Schools has temporary suspended its ban on non-Oklahoma sports team apparel as the district reviews its dress code.

The issue emerged after kindergartener Cooper Barton was told to turn his University of Michigan shirt inside out because it violated the dress code that only allowed Oklahoma apparel.

The Oklahoman reports the ban will be lifted for 60 days as a committee examines the issue of gang apparel and team logos.

The ban only applied to four high schools and 13 elementary schools that do not have a uniform policy.

Cooper and his family are headed to Ann Arbor this weekend at the invitation of Michigan's athletic director. The family plans to attend the Michigan-Massachusetts game.
