LANSING (AP) -- State police say they have a suspect in a spray-paint graffiti attack on the Michigan Capitol and a nearby war memorial.

Lt. Kyle Bowman tells the Lansing State Journal that investigators will hand the case over to the Ingham County prosecutor's office this week. He isn't releasing the suspect's name, age or hometown.

Authorities found the graffiti last Thursday on the Capitol's columns and behind a memorial on the northeast side of the Capitol lawn.

State employees continue working to remove the paint. Thy say they'll determine whether part of the sandstone columns will have to be replaced.

The graffiti include stick figures on the columns and the phrase "Give art a chance" on the memorial.

Police are checking if they're linked to others found at Lansing Community College.
