WEST BLOOMFIELD (AP) -- UPDATE:

Police in suburban Detroit say a man suspected of gunning down an officer who responded to a trouble call has been found dead.

West Bloomfield Township police Lt. Tim Diamond says a search team entered the suspect's home about 6 p.m. Monday and found 50-year-old Ricky Coley's body.

Diamond says it isn't yet known if Coley killed himself.

Police had been surrounding the house in the affluent community since Sunday night. That's when an officer was shot to death while responding to a report of a possible suicide attempt.

Police say the gunman fired through a door and wall, striking Officer Pat O'Rourke.

Coley was a former auto industry executive whose venture capital company faced legal scrutiny. He was also going through a divorce.

Authorities are destroying part of a suburban Detroit home after a man suspected of killing a police officer refused to surrender.

Detroit TV stations showed aerial video Monday evening of a heavy machine clawing away at Ricky Coley's home in West Bloomfield Township.

Messages seeking comment were left for township police and the Oakland County sheriff's department.

West Bloomfield Officer Pat O'Rourke was fatally shot Sunday night while responding to a 911 call from Coley's home. Since that time, authorities have urged him to surrender, but Coley hasn't emerged.

A man who's refusing to leave his Detroit-area home after the fatal shooting of a police officer has been identified as the head of a financial company who's in trouble with regulators.

West Bloomfield Township police Lt. Timothy Diamond says the man inside is Ricky Coley. The U.S. Labor Department filed suit in August accusing Coley of mishandling money that was supposed to cover employee insurance at a Michigan trucking company controlled by his CNC Holdings.

Separately, the lawsuit says Coley transferred $342,000 from Translogic Auto Carriers to himself or his affiliates. Creditors forced Translogic into bankruptcy court in 2010. The bankruptcy case is pending.

West Bloomfield Officer Pat O'Rourke was fatally shot Sunday after responding to a 911 call about trouble at Coley's home in the Oakland County community.
