TRAVERSE CITY -- A northern Michigan organization is reaching out to the community to help with a severe shortage of food.
The Salvation Army food pantry in Traverse City is looking to the local community to respond to a severe shortage of food donations over the summer months.
The pantry has been nearly depleted as many individuals have experienced difficulty in providing food for their families due to continuing economic hardship. In addition to food assistance, many of the families are also receiving utility assistance and housing stabilization plans.
“The Salvation Army continues to be committed to serving the needs of the local community and we are hopeful that the citizens of Traverse City will continue their support of The Salvation Army food pantry. With the increased need throughout the year, we are looking to our community to help us meet our goal of restocking our food pantry this fall,” said Captain Daren Spencer, Traverse City Corps Community Center Officer. “I am certain that Traverse City will help us fulfill our commitment to this goal, which will allow us to serve those who depend on us to meet basic human needs,” he added.
