HARRISON, MICH. -- A former Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Commander was arrested for embezzlement on Wednesday.
69-year-old Richard Carothers was arrested on 9 counts, including forgery, uttering and publishing, larceny by conversion, false pretenses and embezzlement, according to the Michigan State Police.
The information was brought to State Police's attention in April of 2011 and an investigation was initiated.
Carothers has been removed as V.F.W. Post Commander.
