TRAVERSE CITY -- Traverse City Light and Power's customers that are interested in participating in the Community Solar project can sign up online.

The proposed Community Solar prohect would allow customers to purchase 100 kilowatt hour "sun block" of solar generation, which would replease 100 kilowatt hours of mostly coal generation. Each "sun block" would cost customers an additional $16 per month.

Both residential and commerical customers would be able to participate in the project and would be allowed to purchase more than one "sun block" at a time.

Customers interested in participating in the project should fill out the form, which can be found on TCL&P's website. Those who sign up will be offered the first opportunity to participate. It is anticipated that spots will fill quickly.

Construction is estimated to take place in 2013, after all details have been approved by the board.
