TRAVERSE CITY, MI -- In August, Grand Traverse County voters will begin the process of choosing a law enforcement leader.

Tom Bensley is wrapping up his first term as sheriff.

He is hoping to get reelected, but Bensley has some competition.

Fellow Republican Kevin Sandvig has been campaigning hard against the current sheriff.

The winner of the August election will face Democrat Joe McCarthy in November.

McCarthy has an uncontested primary.
