CHIPPEWA COUNTY -- UPDATE 9:45 AM Thursday:

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office is releasing more information involving the crash late last night.

According to witness statements and evidence on scene, the West bound semi truck, which was hauling coiled steel, did not notice a passenger car stopped in the West bound lane. The car was attempting to make a left hand turn. The semi truck hit the car, pushing it into the East bound lane where it was then struck by an oncoming SUV.

The semi kept moving a short distance before overturning and losing it's load of steel. Two rolls of steels bounced west down M-28 where one struck an east bound van.

All vehicles sustained major damage and 4 people were transported to War Memorial Hospital for treatment. They have since been released.
