LEELANAU COUNTY -- UpNorthLive's Facebook Fans have spoken and they have chosen to hear more about Fox Island Lighthouse Association.
The Fox Island Lighthouse Association is in the running for a "CLASSY" award.
The non-profit group, which aims at stabilizing and restoring a seven-building light station on South Fox Island, has been selected as a top five regional finalist from 2400 nominees. South Fox island is off of the Leelanau Peninsula.
Fox Island is nominated in the Environmental Protection category. The next round of elimination incorporates a Judges Panel as well as voting from the public. The finalists and winners will be announced in San Diego in September.
To help Fox Island get to San Diego for the finals, click here to cast your vote. You must cast your vote by Friday, July 27th. 
South Fox Island is one of the few places in the U.S. with two abandon lighthouses at the same location.
