SAULT ST. MARIE, MICH. -- Goodwill Industries of Upper Michigan received a contribution of over $32,000 for job training scholarships.
The program will train workers for entry level employment in Customer Service and Hotel Housekeeping. The training will take place in three Upper Peninsula communities; Sault St. Marie, Marquette and Escanaba/Manistique.
The grant was given through the Wal-Mart Foundation's State Giving Program and will work to make skilled workers available for businesses in the UP.
The grant was presented at a check presentation ceremony on Thursday at Goodwill's Work Force Development Center on Mackinac Trail in Sault St. Marie.
The Wal-Mart Foundation's Michigan State Giving Program supports organizations that create opportunities so people can live better. Last year in Michigan, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and the Wal-Mart Foundation awarded more that $21.7 million to local organizations.
